An extremely rare Borough of Andover ARP Rescue & Demolition breast badge. Roughly the same size as a standard ARP breast badge, the accompanying photo shows it worn above this badge. The badges and photo also came with the Hampshire titles that were often sewn to the epaulettes.

An item I had not come across until now. This brass plaque, measuring approximately. 9" in diameter, features a lady wearing a helmet with barrage balloons in the background. It has "ARP" and "1939" inscribed at the bottom. There is a name inscribed on the side, which I believe says "Peri". This could be Peter László Péri (1899–1967), a renowned Hungarian-British artist known for his avant-garde work, pioneering use of concrete in sculpture and architectural reliefs, and his significant post-war contributions to public art in Britain.
According to the note on the back of the photo, this was taken in June 1945 and shows the incident record for bombing in the Borough of Lewisham. The map was hanging in the Control Centre.
Ever wondered what the Yanks were doing about Civil Defense (yes, spelt with an 's') during World War II (they prefer Roman numerals)? Well, wonder no more. New to the information superhighway interwebs is ww2civildefense.com, a website dedicated to the history of the Office of Civilian Defense between 1941 and 1945. Also included are the various units of the protective Citizens Defense Corps and the volunteers in the Citizens Service Corps supporting the war effort in their neighborhood (the colonies over there have a thing about dropping that letter 'u'...).
Members of a London County Council (LCC) Ambulance crew examine a map. The lady on the right is pointing to an area south of New Oxford Street and slightly north of Long Acre (above Covent Garden).
