This egregious fake wooden bowl recently sold on eBay for £78 (plus £9.50 shipping). Some shyster has stamped around the rim (incredibly poorly while drunk it appears) and base to make out that this bowl was made from wood salvaged from Westminster Hall following an air raid in May 1941. The lettering is absolutely atrocious with some fake name (Preston J. Miller) impressed on the base.
This type of bowl - called Cambridge Ware and also Dice-Ware - was manufactured in the 1950s and 60s. I wouldn't normally post items like this but should the buyer research their "collectible" they may want to send it back for a refund...

Like bad pennies, this fake helmet has reappeared on the tat bazaar with a starting price of £195. It's one of several helmets that I have now learned were produced in south-east London and sold at the flea market in Greenwich. I have previously blogged about a fake West Ham example from the same hand. This Greenwich one, along with the West Ham example, had all the hallmarks of a well-known shyster in the Midlands but although some of his crap mirrors these, they are not from his garden shed production line of fake militaria.
I don't want this blog to turn into a raft of fakes but if the buyer does manage to see a post after purchasing they may be able to get their money back. It would appear that the current way to turn a few bob is to buy up cheap unmarked Zuckerman helmets and then apply lettering of a firm (see previous examples for the WVS and Avro Aircraft). This garbage comes from a regular shyster on eBay known for hawking all sorts of faked militaria. I expect we'll see quite a lot of these helmets in the future.
Coming from the same shed as the previously blogged Avro Aircraft Zuckerman helmet, is this WVS Mobile Canteen No. 4 example. The seller is notorious amongst collectors for fabricating all sorts of militaria. This is another recently lettered Zuckerman with distressing added to give a whiff of authenticity. At time of writing, bids on the tat bazaar had driven the price to £156. A waste of money and the seller is an utter disgrace.
Here's a beauty, an Avro Aircraft Zuckerman from another well-known faker of militaria. This helmet is currently on the tat bazaar and may well catch out a few peeps. It's had quite a lot of fake work done on it to age the modern water slide transfer. Unfortunately, the fakers didn't do their homework as the Avro Heritage Museum has a page that explains the company never used "AVRO AIRCRAFT" on any company signage in the UK...
