A very interesting portrait of a Chief Warden from Greenwich. Although aa chief warden he is not wearing a white helmet but has CHIEF above the W on his helmet (I assume this could be very early war). No usage of the red bar and diamond insignia on his bluette overalls but he has an armband declaring his seniority.

A few photographs featuring this particular warden have appeared on eBay in the last few months. I nice study of a warden taken at a stand down event in May 1945, I believe. Austerity pattern battledress with the core insignia - just breast badge and shoulder titles - and beret with ARP badge.
Though the far more ubiquitous single 'W' is more often found, some areas utilised the full word for WARDEN on their helmets. Here are three ARP Wardens during a scrap collection in the Hull area. Two are wearing bluette overalls and one in civvies so probably an early war photograph.
Three wardens from the Wirral. The two gentlemen are wearing bluette overalls that do not have the leg pocket. The colour differentiation is most likely due to the the gentleman on the right having had his overalls go through the wash a few times. The lady warden is wearing the Lady Warden's coat.
Nice portrait of six members of the ARP in bluette overalls. Appears a couple (middle sat down down and top right) have the more substantial ARP General Service Respirator (GSR) in the army-type carrier and the others with Civilian Duty Respirator in the draw-string carrier. There is an area title below the ARP breast badge but I cannot make it out.
