This clockwork ARP wind-up toy is a very rare survivor. This model was made by A. Wells & Co. Ltd. and Brimtoy Ltd. (Wells-Brimtoy) and marked 'Made in England'. From the advert for this and similar toys the production year was around 1941. It sold at auction with a hammer price of £650 (with the addition of VAT and other fees on top).

One for the re-enactors. A lovely condition 1938 Morris 10/4 Series 3 in maroon and black kitted out for the black out and with ARP decals. Just wish I had a garage... I think I saw this car for sale previously on eBay.
Available for £7,650 London Auxiliary Ambulance Service (LAAS) driver and attendant with their Talbot ambulance in 1939. The LAAS was created to support the existing London Ambulance Service (LAS) dealing with the expected casualties of air raids on London. Whilst the LAS was organised by the London County Council (LCC), the LAAS was managed by individual ambulance stations.
Image Copyright: London Metropolitan Archive Here's a montage of a Cardiff Corporation ambulance and interior probably made for a magazine editorial. If you know more about the vehicle shown please let me know.
A very nice portrait of ambulance drivers in March 1940 - sadly location unknown. The enormous letters behind them is rather amazing.
