A very good photo of a Stretcher Party. These men were responsible to extricating casualties out of bombed buildings and transporting them either to First Aid Posts or to ambulances for conveyance to the nearest hospital. Seeing as the members here are not wearing serge battledress the photograph was most likely taken pre-September 1941. The white helmets denote party leaders.

Does anyone know the base of this stretcher Party? I think I can recognise my dad, Jack Singer, who was in a stretcher party at St Pancras ARP from 1939

Afraid not but almost certainly it is in London as the SP helmet lettering was only used in the capital's boroughs.

Thanks for prompt reply. Any way of accessing official records of members of St Pancras ARP? I have a "to whom it may concern"" memo from the St Pancras Public Health Department dated Nov 1940 ( a reference really) confirming he was in the Stretcher party since Aug 1939 and I think was still there a the time of the memo. It said he was a "Squad Leader". In the photo (if it's him), he has a black helmet with a "T" above the SP. Does that mean anything? And the watch he is wearing is suspiciously like the watch he left me, though I know they were very common!!.
